WHY ARE WE PLANTING A CHURCH?
The local church is at the heart of Community’s mission philosophy. We believe the local church is the central means by which the Gospel is established in a given area and extended to other areas.
WHY ANOTHER CHURCH IN NASHVILLE?
Actually, we don’t intend to start a new ministry in a new area. We realize this is where our strategy is slightly different. Our intention is to go where our church already lives and put our structure around it. In a true sense, our church is already present in other areas of our city as our current members live and exist in adjoining communities. The goal is to extend the Gospel message to their immediate area by transplanting ourselves through them. It will be the same ministry in two locations.
WHY DO THIS NOW? WHY IN FRANKLIN?
In many ways we’re behind the curve on this decision. The rapid and long-term growth of Nashville is well documented. There is a 20 to 30-mile distance between our present campus and our members to the south. As our city becomes more congested, their participation in the regular ministry of our church becomes more challenging. Also, neighbors whom they encounter do not consider a thirty to forty-minute journey north a reasonable way to attend a church. The population boom in our city is why we feel the need to serve our members to the south by establishing a congregation around them.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Over the next two years our main campus and its members will support the south campus by serving in areas such as nursery workers, musicians, greeters, and more. Jon Moffitt, working alongside the current Board & Staff of Community, will lead the South Campus towards critical mass until a specific launch date can be identified. The ultimate goal is not to say goodbye to the South Campus but to create a network of ministry.
A facility has already been provided at no cost. The South Campus location can seat up to 100 people and has a functional use allowing for childcare, etc.
Jon Moffitt was born and raised in the sunny desert of Southern California. He joined the CBC staff as the College and Young Adult Pastor in January of 2011. Jon is married to Judith, and they have four children: Charis, Titus, Jane, and Knox.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Community is currently raising support to help provide for the financial needs of the South Campus over the next two years. This money will be used for items such as: the pastor’s salary, facility needs, and supplies. Our goal is to raise support of $7,500 per month for the next two years. If we can raise a sufficient portion of this monthly amount by September, we are praying to start services this fall. There are two ways you can help support this church plant financially:
1) MAKE A ONE TIME GIFT
2) COMMIT TO MONTHLY GIFTS
If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Jon Moffitt.
